Denture implants are an alternative to bridges, denture slips, and denture shoes. They are typically full or partial denture implants. Partial implants can replace several missing teeth. This denture solution is a more natural solution for missing teeth. Implants are placed into the jawbone, under the gums, and a row of false teeth in the correct shape and size as restored through the procedure.
Other names for snap-on or implant-retained denture implants include denture-supported and implant-supported bridges. Both systems utilize denture plates which are supported or mounted to the jawbone. When the tooth is not in use, the plate is kept in place with the help of a screw or other anchor. The dental implant is then anchored to the anchor via the bone, and the dental implants are permanently fixed to the plate. This is compared to denture plates that are removable and need to be replaced after a certain period of time because of wear and tear.
